Album Review: Young Guns - Bones

Young Guns second album ‘Bones’ sounds similar to their debut album ‘All Our Kings Are Dead’. The boys have produced another album of solid rock anthem songs, with catchy, soaring riffs and build ups that explode into bellowing choruses, showcasing the talent of frontman Gustav. The production is sleek and well done, but it sounds – the same. ‘You are not’ and ‘Broadfields’ showed some potential, but for me, were spoiled with the ubiquitous anthemic chorus. Filler track ‘A hymn for all I’ve lost’ is different and shows the guys are capable of creating more complex and subtle songs. It’s a good album, but it’d be nice to see the guys step out of their comfort zone and develop their more intricate and mature sound.
